Your maximum trailering option for the new Chevy Silverado 2500 will tow up to 22,500 pounds. Even the lightest towing capacity in the lineup is 17,700 pounds. Each Silverado 2500 uses a body-on-frame design to minimize torsion risks associated with pulling heavy trailers, too.

Chevrolet offers two engine options for the Silverado 2500. The first is a 6.6-liter gas engine that generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Your second option is a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel that produces 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. The diesel also offers exhaust braking and an engine block heater.

Three versions of the ten-speed Allison automatic transmission are available for the Silverado. One integrates a power take-off system. Rear- and four-wheel drives are available, too.

Exterior

Technology

The base touchscreen is seven inches, but you can upgrade to a 13.4-inch version. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is standard, and the Silverado 2500 also supports USB connectivity. With the right package, the display and show up to 14 different views.

Safety

Numerous safety systems, including an adaptive cruise control supporting trailering, are available. The blind-spot alert system also supports trailered configurations. Automatic emergency braking is standard, and the truck supports forward collision and pedestrian alerts.

Trim Levels

The Work Truck starts the Silverado 2500 lineup. It is a basic design with a cost-focus aimed at businesses. The regular cab version has two speakers, and the Double and Crew Cabs offer six. 17-inch steel wheels are standard.

Chevy positions the 2500 LT as the entry-level consumer version. It adds a digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment display. Navigation is also standard. 17-inch alloy wheels are included.

The LTZ trim adds 18-inch wheels, a side bed step, remoter start, and digital variable steering assistance. It also includes heated front seats and power adjustment for driver and passenger seats.
